A voice for Iranian Americans
Los Angeles is home to the largest Iranian community outside Iran, and KIRN broadcasts for it in Persian. Its programming mixes news, talk, call-in shows, entertainment and Persian music, giving listeners a daily connection with community events, politics and culture. The station is one of the most searched-for radio stations in the country, with listeners well beyond Southern California following it online.
News
Alongside its Persian-language programs, KIRN carries SRN News for national news.
Ownership and history
KIRN is owned by Lotus Communications, a broadcaster with several ethnic and Spanish-language stations in the West; its sister stations in Los Angeles include KWKW and KFWB. The frequency signed on in September 1984 as KWNK and later became KVCA before taking the KIRN call letters — chosen to evoke Iran.
