The online stream is offered to listeners inside the United States; outside the country it may not play because of rights restrictions.
Hip-hop for Atlanta
Hot 107.9 airs a mainstream urban format: hip-hop and R&B for one of the most important hip-hop cities in the country.
Hotlanta
The WHTA call letters come from "Hotlanta", a common nickname for Atlanta.
How the station moved to Atlanta
The frequency began in Middle Georgia, signing on on October 19, 1973, and later carried the calls WCRY-FM and WPEZ. In 1996 it was acquired by U.S. Broadcasting, which planned to move it into the larger Atlanta market. To win FCC approval several Middle Georgia stations were reshuffled: WPEZ's soft AC format moved to 93.7 in Jeffersonville, the Top 40 format on 93.7 went to a new Macon-area station, WMGB 95.1, and the 107.9 licence was reallocated from Macon to Hampton.
HD Radio and sisters
HD2 carries FoxLocal content from WAGA-TV. In Atlanta, Urban One also owns WAMJ, WPZE and WUMJ.
