HOT 995 99.5 FM live

HOT 99.5 is Washington's top 40 station. It broadcasts as WIHT on 99.5 FM and serves the Washington metropolitan area with the slogan "DC's #1 Hit Music Station". The station is owned by iHeartMedia, and on this page you can listen to HOT 99.5 live online, free.

The hits

HOT 99.5 plays contemporary hit radio: the biggest pop songs of the moment. National programming comes through Premiere Networks and iHeartRadio. The HD2 channel carries Pride Radio, a top 40 and dance service.

From WGAY to WIHT

The frequency signed on in 1960 and spent most of its life as WGAY, one of the last major-market easy listening stations in the country. Its TV ads in the 1970s and 1980s showed programmer Bob Chandler relaxing in a recliner while the station played softly, and in the 1980s WGAY was reported to be President Ronald Reagan's favorite radio station. After brief periods as WEBR and WJMO-FM, it became WIHT — an anagram of "hit".

Sister stations

In the Washington area, iHeartMedia also owns WASH, WBIG-FM, WMZQ-FM, WUST and WWDC.
