93.5 KDAY live

93.5 KDAY is Los Angeles' classic hip-hop station. It broadcasts on 93.5 FM, is licensed to Redondo Beach, California, and serves Greater Los Angeles. It is owned by Meruelo Media, and on this page you can listen to KDAY live online, free.

Classic hip-hop

KDAY plays a classic hip-hop format — the records that defined the genre. Some programming comes from Compass Media Networks.

Studios and transmitter

The studios are in Burbank, and the transmitter is in Baldwin Hills. KDAY extends its coverage into the Inland Empire with a full-power simulcast, KDEY-FM.

The KDAY name

The name comes from the original KDAY on AM, a daytimer — a station that had to shut down at night.

History

The 93.5 frequency went on the air in 1961 as KAPP-FM. It was KKOP, KFOX, KMJR, KFSG and KZAB before becoming KDAY.

Hip-hop, anywhere

Press play and KDAY starts in seconds — on the 405, at work or far from California. The stream on this page carries the same music you hear on 93.5 FM.

For Los Angeles

Today KDAY keeps hip-hop classics on the air for the fans who grew up with them and the new listeners discovering them.
