Today's hits
WAPE plays a top 40 format — the biggest pop hits of the moment for listeners across the Jacksonville metro area.
The Big Ape
The WAPE call letters come from a famous Jacksonville AM station on 690 that used them first. The FM station, which signed on in 1949 and was known as WJAX-FM from 1978 to 1986, inherited both the calls and "The Big Ape" nickname.
Studios and tower
WAPE's studios and offices are on Central Parkway on Jacksonville's Southside. The transmitter is downtown, off Gator Bowl Boulevard.
Sister stations
Cox Media Group's Jacksonville stations also include WEZI, WHJX, WJGL, WOKV and WOKV-FM.
Hits, anywhere
Press play and WAPE starts in seconds — on I-95, at the beach or far from Florida. The stream on this page carries the same music you hear on 95.1 FM.
