City-owned, listener-supported

WRR is a listener-supported, non-commercial station. It is owned by the City of Dallas and operated by North Texas Public Broadcasting, the organization behind NPR member KERA 90.1 FM, adult album alternative station KKXT 91.7 FM and PBS member KERA-TV. The studios are in the Fair Park complex in South Dallas, home of the State Fair of Texas.

Classical music

WRR plays classical music full time, with programming from the Classical 24 service: symphonies, chamber music, opera and piano works, day and night.

History

The station signed on on April 15, 1949, as WRR-FM and dropped the "-FM" in 1978. It inherited the WRR call letters from its former sister, 1310 AM — one of the oldest call signs in Texas radio.
