91.7 KXT live

91.7 KXT is North Texas' public music station. It broadcasts as KKXT on 91.7 FM in Dallas and serves the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex with the slogan "North Texas New, Local & Legendary Music". It is owned by North Texas Public Broadcasting, and on this page you can listen to KXT live online, free.

Adult album alternative

KXT plays an adult album alternative format — new indie and alternative music, local North Texas artists and legendary songs. It is affiliated with NPR, American Public Media, Native Voice One and the Public Radio Exchange.

Signal

KKXT has an effective radiated power of 19,290 watts — modest in a market where many FM stations run 100,000 watts. To make up for it, KXT broadcasts from a tall tower in Cedar Hill, 571.7 meters (1,876 feet) above average terrain, the same one used by sister station KERA, which improves coverage across the suburbs of Dallas and Fort Worth.

History

The frequency signed on in January 1950 as KVTT and became KKXT in 2009.

Sister stations

KXT is part of the KERA family with KERA, KERA-TV and WRR.
