The largest NPR station in the market

University of Washington

KUOW is a service of the University of Washington — the call letters stand for the university — but it is operated by KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio, a nonprofit community organization. The studios are on University Way in Seattle's University District, and the transmitter is on Capitol Hill.

History

The station has been on the air since 1952.

Listener-supported

Like other public radio stations, KUOW depends on the support of its listeners across the Seattle area.
