Conservative talk
WNYM airs conservative talk radio, with programs from the Salem Radio Network and news from Townhall.
Day and night
By day WNYM broadcasts with 50,000 watts, the maximum for U.S. AM stations; at night it drops to 5,000 watts to avoid interfering with other stations. It uses a directional three-tower antenna on Commerce Way in Hackensack, near New Jersey Route 4 and the Hackensack River.
A long history
970 AM dates to August 1926, when it signed on as WKBD. It was WAAT for more than thirty years, then WNTA, WJRZ and, from 1971 to 2008, WWDJ, before the WNYM call letters — for "New York Metro".
Sister station
In New York, Salem also owns WMCA.
