About New Jersey 101.5
New Jersey 101.5 is one of the best-known radio stations in the Garden State. It broadcasts as WKXW on 101.5 FM, is licensed to Trenton and covers Central Jersey and well beyond. The station is owned by Townsquare Media, and on this page you can listen to New Jersey 101.5 live online, free.
News and talk on weekdays
On weekdays the station is news and talk, built around New Jersey issues, taxes and state politics. Its talk shows have shaped the state's politics since the early 1990s, when hosts with a populist, anti-establishment message helped drive a popular revolt against a proposed statewide tax increase — and several incumbents lost their seats afterward.
The morning show
Morning drive has been the station's most influential time slot. Longtime radio veteran Jim Gearhart hosted it for twenty-five years. He was followed by Bill Spadea, who used the post as a springboard to campaign for governor before returning to the show.
Classic hits on weekends
At the weekend the format turns to classic hits, anchored by Big Joe Henry, who was named to the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2026.
History and HD channels
The frequency signed on on August 27, 1962, as WBUD-FM and later carried the calls WBJH and WTRT. The WKXW call letters bookend "Kix", an earlier brand, with two W's. HD2 carries Beach Radio (oldies) and HD3 carries Radio Zindagi, a South Asian service. Sister stations are WCHR and WPST.
