About NewsRadio 740 KTRH

NewsRadio 740 KTRH is Houston's news and talk station. It broadcasts on 740 AM, is licensed to Houston and calls itself "Houston's News, Weather & Traffic Station". The station is owned by iHeartMedia, and on this page you can listen to KTRH live online, free.

News, weather and traffic

KTRH delivers local news, weather from The Weather Channel and traffic for Houston's freeways, along with talk shows about Houston and Texas. National programs come from Premiere Networks, news from ABC News Radio and Fox News Radio, and the station partners with KPRC-TV.

Emergency information

KTRH is Southeast Texas' primary entry point station for the Emergency Alert System, which makes it a key source of information during hurricanes, floods and other emergencies on the Gulf Coast.

One of the oldest stations in America

KTRH was first licensed in Austin on April 22, 1922, as WCM, later becoming KUT before moving to Houston as KTRH. Its call letters come from The Rice Hotel, where the station once had its studios.

Studios and signal

The studios are along the West Loop Freeway in Houston's Uptown district, and the transmitter, a four-tower array, is in Liberty County near Dayton. KTRH's programming is also heard on the HD2 channel of co-owned KODA.

Sister stations

iHeartMedia's Houston stations include KODA, KPRC, KQBT, KTBZ-FM and KXYZ.
