Classic rock

MGK plays classic rock — the bands and songs that have filled Philadelphia's radios for decades.

The voices

Mornings belong to Paul Kelly, middays to Kristen Herrmann and afternoons to Tony Harris, who is also the station's operations and music director. Weekends and fill-ins are handled by Angel Donato, Cyndy Drue, Jay Gleason, Danny Ocean, T. Morgan, Jen Scordo and Sean Burke.

Studios and tower

The studios are in Bala Cynwyd, and the tower is in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia.

History

The frequency dates to the early 1940s, when it began as W67PH and W69PH. It was WCAU-FM from 1943 to 1947 and WPEN-FM from 1947 to 1975 before becoming WMGK — "Magic", the name of a former adult contemporary format.

More on HD

HD2 is Oldies 102.9 and HD3 is Playa 102.9, a salsa channel.

Sister stations

In Philadelphia, Beasley also owns WMMR, WPEN, WTEL, WWDB and WXTU, plus WBEN-FM and WTMR.
