About Q104.3
Q104.3 is New York's classic rock station. It broadcasts as WAXQ on 104.3 FM and serves the New York metropolitan area with the slogan "New York's Rock". The station is owned by iHeartMedia, and on this page you can listen to Q104.3 live online, free.
Classic rock
Q104.3 plays classic rock — the bands and songs that built rock radio, from big anthems to deep album cuts — for listeners across the five boroughs, Long Island, New Jersey and beyond. National programming comes through Premiere Networks and iHeartRadio.
The Jets
WAXQ is affiliated with the New York Jets, so football Sundays have their place on the station too.
History
The frequency signed on on December 1, 1956, as WFMX. For decades it was WNCN, a well-known New York call sign, with a short stretch as WQIV in the mid-1970s, before WAXQ took over in 1993. "Wax" is slang for a vinyl record, a nod to the station's earlier album-oriented rock format.
HD Radio
Q104.3's HD2 channel carries TikTok radio.
Sister stations
Through iHeartMedia, WAXQ shares ownership with WHTZ, WKTU, WLTW, WOR, WWPR-FM and WWRL in New York.
