About ESPN 880

ESPN 880 is New York's ESPN Radio station and the radio home of the Mets. It broadcasts as WHSQ on 880 AM, is licensed to New York City and calls itself "New York's Choice for Sports". On this page you can listen to ESPN 880 live online, free.

Mets radio

The station is also branded "Mets Radio 880 AM": it carries New York Mets baseball, and as part of the MSG Radio Network it airs New York Knicks and New York Rangers games.

ESPN in New York

WHSQ is an ESPN Radio affiliate, carrying national ESPN shows alongside local New York sports talk. It is operated together with ESPN New York, the sports brand of Good Karma, and is owned by Audacy.

A historic frequency

The 880 AM frequency is one of the most storied in American radio. It signed on in September 1924 as WAHG, became WABC in 1926 and was the CBS Radio Network's flagship for decades. From 1946 to 2024 it was WCBS, and from 1967 it was an all-news station that competed with 1010 WINS. In 2024 the all-news format ended and the frequency became WHSQ — the call letters refer to Hudson Square, the Manhattan neighborhood of Audacy's studios — with ESPN sports.

A clear-channel signal

The 880 AM signal covers the whole New York area and, at night, travels far across the Northeast.
