News and talk
KOGO airs news and talk, with national programming from Fox News Radio, Premiere Networks and Compass Media Networks. It is also part of the Los Angeles Chargers Radio Network.
A signal along the coast
KOGO transmits with 9,000 watts by day and 10,000 watts at night from a three-tower array in Santee, shared with KGB, on a street called Megahertz Place. Its signal generally follows the Pacific Coast from Baja California, Mexico, to Santa Barbara, which makes KOGO one of the primary Emergency Alert System stations for the San Diego market.
A name picked by a computer
The station signed on on June 30, 1925, as KFWV and was KFSD from 1926 to 1961. The KOGO call letters were chosen by an IBM computer and are pronounced "Ko-Go". After stretches as KLZZ and KKLQ, the KOGO name returned.
Sister stations
In San Diego, iHeartMedia also owns KGB, KGB-FM, KHTS-FM, KIOZ, KLSD, KMYI and KSSX.
