News and talk

WBZ airs news and talk for New England, with national and world news from ABC News Radio, the Associated Press, Bloomberg Radio and NBC News Radio.

A random name with a story

WBZ signed on on September 19, 1921, making it one of the oldest radio stations in the country. Its call letters were randomly assigned by the Department of Commerce — they had previously belonged to a cargo ship that burned the year before.

Studios

The studios and offices are on Cabot Road in Medford, just north of Boston.

Sister stations

In Boston, iHeartMedia also owns WBWL, WJMN, WRKO, WXKS, WXKS-FM, WZLX and WZRM.

Boston news, anywhere

Press play and WBZ starts in seconds — for the morning traffic on the Pike, a storm update or the news on the way home. For more than a century WBZ has been a constant on the Boston dial, and with the stream on this page it travels with you.

How to listen

You can hear WBZ on the radio on 1030 AM across New England, but you do not need a radio at all: this page plays the live stream in any browser, on a phone, tablet or computer. Press the play button at the top, wait a second or two for the stream to connect, and keep browsing while it plays — the player stays on as you move between pages. It is ideal for the morning commute or a storm update, and it costs nothing: no account, no subscription and no app to install.

Below the player you will find WBZ's frequency and home city, the genres it plays, answers to common questions and a list of similar stations, so when you want a change you can jump to another station in the same format or the same area with one click.
