About 760 WJR
760 WJR is Detroit's news and talk station. It broadcasts on 760 AM, serves Metro Detroit and calls itself "The Great Voice of The Great Lakes". The station is owned by Cumulus Media, and on this page you can listen to WJR live online, free.
News and talk
WJR airs news and talk, with national programming from Fox News Radio and Westwood One. It is also the home of Michigan State Spartans sports.
A 50,000-watt clear channel
WJR is a Class A clear-channel station, broadcasting with 50,000 watts — the maximum power for AM stations in the United States — around the clock. That is why the "Great Voice of the Great Lakes" can be heard far beyond Detroit at night.
An Art Deco landmark
WJR's 1934 transmitter building, called "one of the best Art Deco transmitter buildings ever", and its tower stand near the intersection of Sibley and Grange Roads in Riverview, Michigan.
History
The station signed on on May 4, 1922, as WCX and operated as WJR-WCX from 1925 to 1929. The WJR call letters come from a former owner, the Jewett Radio & Phonograph Company.
Sister station
In Detroit, Cumulus also owns WDVD.
